Beer Review: XPA – Pretty Decent Beer Co.

When I visited Pretty Decent’s tap room the other week I naturally picked up a can of their XPA as I’d absolutely loved it on draft. Can and draft can give you a different experience with a beer so it’s always nice to try both if you can. As mentioned this is their flagship Extra Pale Ale coming in at a very sessionable 3.8% ABV. … Continue reading Beer Review: XPA – Pretty Decent Beer Co.

Beer Review: Storm Shadow – Buxton Brewery

Another beer I’ve had kicking about for a while now from Tesco. This is Buxton Brewery and their Imperial Stout ‘Storm Shadow’. This has been in Tesco stores for a while now at £3.50 a can but with a new batch of craft beer arriving it’s on the way out. Thankfully, if you end up liking the sound of this you can pick it up … Continue reading Beer Review: Storm Shadow – Buxton Brewery

Beer Review: Gold – Butcombe Brewery Co.

After digging through my trove of beers I’ve unearthed one last treat from my good friend Matty. Part of the beers that he gave me, what feels like a decade ago now but is realistically only been a month. This is another new brewery for me in the form of Bristol born Butcombe Brewing Co. This is their flagship ‘Gold’ golden ale at 4.4% ABV … Continue reading Beer Review: Gold – Butcombe Brewery Co.

Beer Review: Talking Head – Williams Bros. Brewing Co.

Back with another Scottish craft brew that I picked up from Lidl. This is ‘Talking Head’ (hopefully named after the band) from Williams Bros. Brewing Co. it is a classic American Pale Ale at 4.4% ABV. Interestingly this beer is in an uncharacteristically large 500ml can where most beers come in the 440ml or 330ml variety. So if it’s good it’s more bang for your … Continue reading Beer Review: Talking Head – Williams Bros. Brewing Co.

Beer Review: Spider Monkey – Black Isle Brewery

This is it! The very last of the Black Isle Brewery core range beers that I bought off of Flavourly a little while ago. This is their unfiltered IPA ‘Spider Monkey’ that’s also the strongest of the bunch at 5.2% ABV. These beers have been cracking fridge fillers over the last couple of months. While the quality has varied between each one, they have been … Continue reading Beer Review: Spider Monkey – Black Isle Brewery

Beer Review: Rapscallion – Northern Monk

It’s been a long while since I last had a Northern Monk beer. Some might argue too long. Thankfully there is an incredible new beer range landing in Morrison’s very soon including a couple of gorgeous sounding Northern Monk brews. In the meantime this is a Morrison’s staple ‘Rapscallion’ a 5.7% ABV Orange Zest IPA. The beer pours a straw gold colour with a big … Continue reading Beer Review: Rapscallion – Northern Monk

Beer Review: Great White – Loch Lomond Brewery

We return with another from Lidl’s past craft beer festival with another from Loch Lomond Brewery who gave us the absolutely lovely ‘Lost in Mosaic’. This time around we’ve got ‘Great White’ which is a White IPA. I’ve not had this style of beer before so definitely excited. Apparently it is best described as a cross between your classic American IPA and a wheat beer. … Continue reading Beer Review: Great White – Loch Lomond Brewery

Beer Review: Jamestown – Thornbridge

It’s been a while since I’ve had a Thornbridge beer and I picked this up a while ago after James from @jamesproclaims (do check him out if you like witty posts about clickbait among other things!) affirmed my suspicions that it could be a good beer. However, I’m only drinking it now as I left it at my friend’s house in Portsmouth and only recently … Continue reading Beer Review: Jamestown – Thornbridge

Beer Review: Orkney Gold – The Orkney Brewery

The elusive double upload today! Despite doing the Taproom Talk I still fancied doing a classic beer review. This is a new brewery for me all the way from the Orkney Islands with The Orkney Brewery. This was given to me by grandparents as even they have been absorbed into my beer world! This ‘Orkney Gold’ is unsurprisingly a golden ale and coming in at … Continue reading Beer Review: Orkney Gold – The Orkney Brewery
