Another new brewery today with London Beer Factory! This review is on their flagship beer the Hazey Daze, a 4.6% session IPA. I ended up tasting this with a friend over FaceTime, while watching the footy so was good fun all around (minus the football, that’s always a disappointment).
The name suggests a hazy beer and visually that’s exactly what you get! This is a case of wanting to ensure you can fit the whole beer in the glass as there is a lot of goodness at the bottom of the can you won’t want to miss out on. Hazey Daze has an incredible nose to it with strong notes of pineapple, almost heading into piña colada territory. Flavour wise the beer is really good. There’s is a really nice level of hop to the body with a slight citrus tang. The smooth finish and low ABV makes this a super drinkable beer. My main issue, which might simply be a problem with this batch, is a rather low level of carbonation, so it’s not moving around your mouth too much.
A quick note on the can art: Simple and effective, the orange is really pleasing and the pattern is incredibly reminiscent of wavy marble or ink designs.
Overall both my friend and I agree this is a really lovely beer. Super refreshing, drinkable and tasty, a classic summer drink. I’m also a big fan that the cans open open entirely as if you are drinking from a glass (also makes it easier to up-cycle into plant pots!). Glad this was my first London Beer Factory beer and I am certainly looking forward to trying more. Might even pop into their taproom once this pandemic is all over!
Thanks for taking the time to read, cheers!
