Returning to the typically awesome Northern Monk for today’s review with a slight difference; it’s a collaboration beer. This beer has been brewed with up and coming North East brewery Alpha Delta and together have created ‘Order of the Faith’. This is a Double Dry Hopped IPA and a twist on Northern Monk’s amazing core pale ale Faith.
The beer pours an amazing golden colour with a thick haze to it. It also is fairly well carbonated giving a lovely, foamy white head. The beer has an amazingly juicy aroma to it with full on pineapple chunks coming through with subtle citrus notes, particularly grapefruit I think. Flavour wise this DDH IPA is, as expected, nice and hoppy. Importantly for my tastes however its an amazing hop without an overbearing lingering bitterness. Really juicy IPA and insanely drinkable at 6.5% ABV.
A quick note on the can art: Northern Monk have killed it again. Awesome colour pairing with the bronze and navy. And a very funky Illuminati-esque twist on the Faith can art.
The Northern Monk hot streak continues. A really quality collaboration that has once again exposed me to a new brewery. Not sure where I’ll be able to pick up some Alpha Delta but I will keep my eye out. This is actually my first DDH beer and you can certainly tell when you taste it as the hops really come through. Big fan of this one and to be able to pick it up in a supermarket is an absolute bonus. Certainly recommend it.
