It’s been a while since I had Vocation’s ‘Life & Death’, a fantastically tasty IPA and one of the best available in the supermarkets. Today’s beer is from Tesco’s new range is a collaboration between Yorkshire based Vocation and Marble Brewery in Manchester. ‘Hop, Skip & Juice’, aside from having a great name, is a 5.7% ABV Hazy Pale Ale.
The beer pours a lovely, hazy as you like, straw colour. Another gorgeous smelling beer from Vocation. Tropical fruits mix with a fresh English orchard with aromas of pear and stone fruits as well. The beer itself is super juicy with peaches and pear coming through on the taste in addition to pineapple chunks. There is a soft, moreish bitterness that keeps you coming back for more.
A quick note on the can art: Now this is a can that stands out on the shelves. Very vibrant colours that remind me of the Fruit Pastille ice lollies I used to get as a kid.
I’ve only had two, but Vocation beers have got to be some of the best craft brews available in the supermarket. This is so packed full of great flavour it’s incredible. Juicy with the hops working well to bring out a great complexity of flavours. It goes down incredible quickly as there is a well balanced bitterness that has you craving for another sip. I need to be trying harder to pick up more of their beer and luckily they released a couple into Tesco’s new range. A massive recommendation from me!
