Beer Review: Murk-Life Balance – Magic Rock Brewing

Sadly winter is coming thick and fast and the number of indoor photos is only going up! Magic Rock have a couple of new brews in the latest Tesco release. Today’s beer is the brilliantly named ‘Murk-Life Balance’ and as you’d expect it is a hazy pale ale. It comes in at 5% ABV.

Although the image doesn’t do it justice, the beer pours a super hazy golden colour. On the nose there is an incredible fresh and fruity aroma, packed full of pineapple and passion fruit. A perfect case of ‘tastes like it smells’. The hops really bring out those great tropical flavours in the beer and what almost tastes like lychee as well. A soft, moreish bitterness on the finish keeps you coming back for another sip. I also think there’s some added oats to give a thickness to the mouthfeel.

A quick note on the can art: As always with Magic Rock, a fairly abstract design. Colour pallet is very similar to their ‘Clairvoyance’ I reviewed.

Overall this is a very good beer. It’s packed full of flavour and the brewers have played with the hops very well to bring out all of those fantastic fruit flavours. If you’re not a fan of an overly bitter finish this one is certainly for you as it has been well balanced to compliment the body. As more people work from home these days I think this is an acceptable brew to throw in at lunchtime to spice up your Work-Life Balance.

Score: 8/10

Thanks for reading! Cheers!
