Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was referred to as the ‘Baby-face Assassin’ in his playing days for Manchester United so I thought, with the recent sacking, it was an appropriate time to try the beer of the same name. Rooster’s is a new brewery for me that is based up in Yorkshire. ‘Baby-Face Assassin’ is described as a ‘deceptively drinkable IPA’ due to it coming in at a boozy 6.1% ABV.
Visually, the beer is clear, golden on the pour. A classic hoppy, citrus aroma with lots of grapefruit and lemon zest on the nose. The body of the beer has a dry, fruity bitterness from start to finish. That bitterness lingers a little on the end. That said, it is still crisp and refreshing.
A quick note on the can art: A fairly simple but pretty clean can wrap. No crazy artwork which isn’t always a bad thing.
To be fair there isn’t too much to say about the beer other than it’s a pretty solid IPA. It has those classic citrus flavours and zesty bitterness while having touches of tropical notes mixed in. It also lives up to it’s description as I don’t think it tastes as strong as it actually is. I’d certainly grab another can of ‘Baby-Faced Assassin’ whether Manchester United would give Ole another shot is a different question…
