Another one of the funkier beers from the Tiny Rebel haul and I believe the first porter I’ve reviewed. Porters are my guilty pleasure I think, and I feel breweries often get quite creative with the types and flavours of porters they release. This one is Tiny Rebel’s ‘Stay Puft’ marshmallow porter. One of their core beers now as far as I’m aware and one I’ve heard cracking things about.
Visually the beer is nice and dark heading towards black with a light tan head. The nose isn’t that potent in all honesty and certainly not of distinctive marshmallow. However, there are subtle hints of chocolate and a sweetness in the aroma. Flavour wise there is a slight sweetness but not a definitive marshmallow or s’mores taste as advertised. That being said, this is a really lovely porter fundamentally. Incredibly smooth with a creaminess. Rich body and a moreish finish makes this very enjoyable to drink.
A quick note on the can art: The art and the name are a very obvious homage to the iconic Ghostbusters monster. All in all it has made for a very memorable can!
I really wish this tasted more of marshmallow for me because besides that this is a really lovely porter. Silky smooth going down, I could find my self very easily having a few of these in a pub! I’ve seen that Tiny Rebel have often done different flavoured twists on Stay Puft and would love to get my hands on them in the future. A solid porter by any standards that I wholeheartedly recommend.
