The last beer I reviewed while on holiday in glorious Cornwall. This is the second beer from Fourpure’s Globetrotter bundle. This is Jazz Age; a 7.4% ABV Espresso Martini Stout. The combination of those two things on paper seems like a match made in heaven in all honesty. I chose to bring this one down for my friends to try as, despite many not being stout drinkers, a lot do like an espresso martini and I wanted some second opinions on the beer!
A ruby black pour on the beer with a big tan head on top. On the nose there is an incredible punch of chocolate mixed with big coffee aromas. Flavourwise it is seriously close to the cocktail in all honesty. Those coffee flavours are punching through in their entirety giving some lovely iced coffee vibes to it. The bitterness from the roasted malts is very well balanced with the creaminess of the body from the added lactose. Fairly easy drinking as well considering the ABV of the beer.
A quick note on the can art: The can art is awesome once again. A really funky wrap based on the roaring twenties and the era of jazz. The can wraps are textured as well which I quite enjoy. I also really love the positioning of their logo at the bottom of the can.
Man what a quality beer. And importantly my friends genuinely enjoyed it as well! It is a really well balanced beer in my opinion with all the flavours working really well in my books. Quite a rich stout I think so was certainly more than happy to dish it around with some mates. That makes two out of two so far for this bundle and I can’t wait to get into the others!
Score: 9/10
Thanks for reading! Cheers!
