It’s an exciting time in the craft beer world as it is Lidl’s Scottish Craft Beer Festival! By the time I get through reviewing and uploading them all I imagine it will be over so if you are feeling adventurous get down to one as soon as possible. Thankfully taking a risk on these beers wont break the bank as even the large 440ml cans are not more than £1.79. For proper craft beer it’s a steal. The first of this range is from Loch Lomond Brewery and their ‘Lost in Mosaic’ New World IPA at 5% ABV.
Visually the beer looks stunning! An amazing gold colour with a deep haze. The beer maintains it’s head down and laces the the glass well. The nose gives off an amazing fruit salad medley with pungent tropical aromas pushing through in the form of orange and pineapple. Fantastic flavour as well with melon coming through paired with a smooth light hop. A classic moreish bitterness on the finish. Packed full of flavour and value for money.
A quick note on the can art: Perhaps one of my favourites so far. The whole can is wrapped in an aerial photography shot, of what I imagine is Loch Lomond. The understated position of the logo and the colours used on the beer description works incredibly well.
What a fascinating beer that has left me in a slight predicament. It is incredible flavour but more importantly it’s incredible flavour at an unbeatable price point. £1.79 for a beer of that quality is unbelievable. I like to rate my beers simply on how they taste but the value offered by Lidl in this can of craft beer has thrown me off slightly. It’s a 9/10 on flavour but the biggest 10/10 on value I’ve ever given. Get yourselves down to Lidl, if you can, and pick this cracking IPA up.
