Beer Review: Clairvoyance – Magic Rock Brewing

Today’s beer is indeed from Morrisons but not part of their new range. ‘Clairvoyance’ is a double dry hopped IPA and has been on their shelves from quite a while now. This beer is brewed by Magic Rock a new brewery for the blog but one I have dabbled in before. I quite enjoy a DDH every now and then and at 7.2% ABV I’m hoping this heavy hitter will deliver.

The beer pours a hazy, straw gold colour with a a white head. On the nose the beer is super tropical, I imagine that dry hopping has brought forward those fresh pineapple aromas. Flavour wise is very similar, with a decent level of hoppy tropical flavours through the body. Quite a sharp, bitter finish to the beer that doesn’t linger too long.

A quick note on the can art: Magic Rock have a standard not so standard abstract theme on all the cans. Really enjoy them and makes them pop out on the supermarket shelves. Incorporated into the design appears to be an eye which matches the name of the beer well.

Not a bad beer at all this and, even better, it’s currently on offer at four cans for a tenner. Visually and on the nose the beer is really lovely, packed full of tropical notes. In the taste the sharpness on the end makes it a little less drinkable when compared to other DDH IPA Morrisons have had on offer before like ‘Order of the Faith’. Overall, it’s a solid boozy beer (at good value) that if you like your beers hoppy you will certainly enjoy this.

Score: 7/10
