Beer Review: 3 Weiss Monkeys – London Fields Brewery

Today’s beer was a lovely gift from a very generous friend! It’s actually a new brewery for me in the form of London Fields based out of Hackney in East London. This is ‘3 Weiss Monkeys’ which in my opinion is a great play on words considering the style used is a White IPA. The only other White IPA I’ve had was from Loch Lomond Brwery and it was a beautiful marriage of Wheat Beer and IPA so I’m very grateful to have been gifted this for another try at the style.

Awesome visual to the beer with a great hazy straw, gold colour. On the nose the beer is wheaty and aromatic with hints of orange and apple. The flavour is super fruity with a strong apple taste coming through as well as a tad of stone fruits like peach. While the body is all wheat beer, you still get that IPA coming through on the finish with the slightest hop bitterness.

A quick note on the can art: The name matches the can art with with a funky version of the classic three wise monkeys. Would certainly stand out on the supermarket shelves.

I think I’m in love with this style! It’s a really great fusion of two classics, and personally I’m leaning towards preferring it over standard wheat beers. ‘3 Weiss Monkeys’ is a very solid beer with super fruity flavours and a punchy aroma. It’s a very refreshing brew. Great White remains my favourite White IPA but I would love to know where my friend picked this up from because it would make a fantastic fridge filler!

Score: 7.5/10

Thanks for reading! Cheers!
