Finally getting back to one of the Fourpure Globetrotter beers. Had these for a while now but I wanted to try and review some of those Lidl beers first. Another super interesting one this is ‘Lantern’ an Earl Grey Session IPA brewed with Earl Grey tea, at a light 3.7% ABV. The previous two were really good so expectations are being maintained high for this one.
The beer pours straw coloured verging on light orange marmalade. Has a light white head that dissipates rather quickly. On the nose there is a genuine punch of Earl Grey tea with a slightly sharp citrus lemon aroma mixed in as well. Another case of the taste absolutely matching the incredible aroma. The front end of the beer is full of that Earl Grey. There is a nice complimenting and light bitterness from both tea and the hops. On the back end there is a lovely touch of orange or tangerine. At just 3.7% it’s an incredibly drinkable beer that is still full of flavour.
A quick note on the can art: As always really awesome. They’ve gone for an oriental theme for the origin of tea. Textured wrap as well as always. Really lovely colours that would pop on the shelves.
It really is three for three so far on this bundle. I’ve never had a early grey tea infused beer but it really does work. The two types of bitterness work very well together. The light bitterness, interesting flavour and session ABV makes this the perfect pint beer. Would love for this to be on tap somewhere, would have a few of these in a beer garden. Always the worry with low ABV beers that the flavours don’t come through but the addition of the tea pulls it all together.
Score: 8.5/10
Thanks for reading! Cheers!
