This is it! The very last of the Black Isle Brewery core range beers that I bought off of Flavourly a little while ago. This is their unfiltered IPA ‘Spider Monkey’ that’s also the strongest of the bunch at 5.2% ABV. These beers have been cracking fridge fillers over the last couple of months. While the quality has varied between each one, they have been quietly consistent and I can certainly recommend many of the core range.
‘Spider Monkey’ pours a light gold with a slight haze. Interestingly almost no head at all on the beer. Really lovely nose with strong pineapple chunks and heading towards an almost piña colada vibe. The body of the beer has a great refreshing hop to it that’s fresh and inviting. It’s got a cracking moreish bitterness on the finish that keeps you coming back for more.
A quick note on the can art: As always it’s the same format except this time it’s blue and white!
All the Black Isle beers have been a pleasure but this is probably the second best with their ‘Blonde’ lager topping the core range. This beer is tropical, hoppy and importantly refreshing. Lovely easy drinking. Looking forward to popping and visiting the brewery in the near future as my family have said it was a great place when they went for a visit a couple years back.
