Lidl have a new range of beers back in right now! They’ve gone for an all Scottish line up again at incredibly good value, with an average price of just £1.79 a beer. I thought I’d kick off the new range reviewing a beer from my favourite brewery from the last release, Loch Lomond, and their new beer, appropriately named ‘Zoom Time’. It’s a rarely seen session New England IPA at 4.5% ABV.
The beer pours a great hazy, pear juice like colour with a thick foamy head. On the nose the aroma is full on tinned peaches with a little tinge of citrus mixed in. Flavour wise the beer is fantastic. Pineapple and lime citrus is all over the flavour giving a juiced up and refreshing taste. There’s also a slight moreish bitterness to the finish that keeps you coming back. Smooth, soft mouthfeel with a light carbonation makes for very easy drinking.
A quick note on the can art: Very different to the previous beer I’ve reviewed from them which focus on photography. This is the view from the inside of inside of a tent while on the recently popular video conferencing app Zoom. The whole vibe seems quite appealing and warm right about now.
Loch Lomond has got to be one of the most consistently fantastic breweries I’ve reviewed. This is simply another fantastic craft beer that Lidl are offering at a ridiculously affordable price point. Despite being a session NEIPA the full roster of flavours are abundantly clear and the hops used have been manipulated brilliantly to bring them out. Very drinkable beer that goes down easily and in my mind is a lovely accompaniment to a meal. I’ve picked up one other Loch Lomond beer and missed out on one as it wasn’t in stock but I can’t wait to try it out, as this brewery keeps the bar high. If you get the chance head to Lidl and pick this one up!
