Beer Review: Double IPA – Pretty Decent Beer Co.

Pretty Decent Beer Co. are my local brewery and they make cracking beer, which is why I stuck them in my Instagram giveaway! When I went to pick up my choice of prizes I saw they’d also released a new beer. A Double IPA brewed over Lockdown 2 and apparently the first in a series of winter DIPAs from the guys under the arches. According to the head brewer, despite it being 7% ABV it goes down like a dream. I can’t wait to get stuck in.

The beer pours a gorgeous deep hazy straw colour. Looks like a glass of pear juice with a nice, clean foamy head. On the nose you get a tinned peaches or stone fruit aroma mixed in with classic IPA tropical vibes of pineapple chunks. Punchy tropical flavours on a thick juicy body. Hops used extremely well to bring out maximum flavour that make an incredibly drinkable beer. A very classic hoppy bitter finish that doesn’t overbear and keep you coming back for more.

A quick note on the can art: I found out the art work is done by a local illustrator. The design is similar with all PDBC beers but I think this is my favourite. The burgundy colour is really lovely.

For me this is the best beer I’ve had from the folks over at Pretty Decent. It is absolutely packed with flavour and the pure visual of the beer makes it look very appetizing right off the bat. Head brewer Chris said this wasn’t a boozy DIPA, and he was spot on. Very dangerous brew and you could find yourself sinking a couple and very quickly feeling the impact! And don’t forget every beer sold sees money go to charity, so you can feel good while drinking good beer!

Score: 9/10

Thanks for reading! Cheers!
