I was recently in Southampton seeing some friends, so naturally the first thing I check is what the local breweries are! I saw Dancing Man pop up on Google Maps and my mate said it was really popular. While we were there, I sunk about four different pints of which ‘Did You See The Size Of That Chicken?’ was my absolute favourite. I decided to bring a can back to review at home. It’s a boozy 7% ABV IPA brewed with Idaho-7 hops.
Visually, the beer has a very hazy straw gold colour to it. An incredibly amazing aroma on this beer with tonnes of mango, pineapple and peach. The hop levels are bold but are balanced out with a seriously soft mouthfeel. The main flavour is heavy on the stone fruits with a lovely creamy undertone and a touch of sweetness too. Bitter on the finish and no boozy bite on the end either!
A quick note on the can art: I absolutely love the design of the can. It reminds me of vintage wallpaper except with chickens which looks hilariously odd.
This is probably one of the best IPAs I’ve had in a long time. There is simply so much packed into the beer. Loads of peach flavour to the body with a sweet creaminess that just pairs so well. The highlight is definitely the softness of the body, which on draft was at another level. I’m glad they didn’t shy away from the strong hoppiness, I find these soft, hazy IPA’s tend to try and avoid the bitterness but I’m glad it got a chance to shine through. It was also ridiculously drinkable for a 7% beer. Dancing Man Brewery is now firmly on my radar after this bad boy!
Score: 9.5/10
