Beer Review: Session IPA – Toast Ale

Today’s beer is one I’ve had kicking around for a while. This is Toast Ale’s Session IPA that can be picked up from Co-OP, Waitrose or Tesco. On the face of it, it seems like just another standard session IPA but it’s a beer brewed with a twist. Toast Ale beers are brewed with surplus fresh bread to help reduce wastage in the food production … Continue reading Beer Review: Session IPA – Toast Ale

Beer Review: Bright Lights – Hatherwood Craft Beer Company x Stewart Brewing

A beer gifted to my by my wonderful grandparents! This is from Hatherwood Beer Company also known as the name given to Lidl’s own brand beers. Typically these are contract brewed by Shepherd Neame I believe but this time around they’ve openly branded it as a ‘collaboration’ with Stewart Brewing. Being a Scottish brewer this beer is only available in Lidl stores in Scotland. ‘Bright … Continue reading Beer Review: Bright Lights – Hatherwood Craft Beer Company x Stewart Brewing

Beer Review: Bravehop – Loch Lomond Brewery

Returning to a beer I picked up in Lidl during their beer festival. Feels like that was an age ago now! This is the third and final Loch Lomond Brewery beer I picked up and it’s a can of one of their core beers ‘Bravehop’. It’s an IPA coming in at strong-ish 6% ABV. Based on the track record of the previous beers this should … Continue reading Beer Review: Bravehop – Loch Lomond Brewery

Beer Review: In The Dark – Signature Brew

Picked up a beer by Signature Brew recently which is a brewery I know fairly well. Their ‘Backstage’ IPA is a staple in the pub I work at and it’s a lovely brew. Signature are known for combining beer and music and often do collaborations with artists. Today’s beer ‘In The Dark’ is brewed in collaboration with MCs Drs and Dynamite. It is a dark … Continue reading Beer Review: In The Dark – Signature Brew

Beer Review: Midsummer – Fourpure Brewing Co.

The penultimate beer from the Fourpure’s Globetrotter bundle of beers. This is ‘Midsummer’ a Pinot Noir Gose at 5.5% ABV. There’s a slight twist to this beer in that it is a collaboration with a winery rather than another brewery. This beer has Pinot Noir grapes added to it from the Noita Winery in Finland. Hopefully this is the recipe for another amazing beer, Visually … Continue reading Beer Review: Midsummer – Fourpure Brewing Co.

Beer Review: Castaway – Fourpure Brewing Co.

Today’s review is another heavy hitter ABV wise. I’ve returned to another of the Fourpure ‘Globetrotter’ which have been simply amazing in my opinion. Very creative beer ideas that have been executed well. This one is ‘Castaway’ a Mai Tai Double IPA coming in at a massive 8% ABV. I like the idea of cocktail inspired beers and I think the orange citrus of Mai … Continue reading Beer Review: Castaway – Fourpure Brewing Co.

Beer Review: Transient – Northern Monk

Morrisons have a massive new craft beer range out at the moment! At my local store I could only pick up the BrewDog and Northern Monk brews (worse problems to have I know!) but hopefully they’ll do some rotation and the other fantastic looking beers will start creeping in. There’s been a slight price bump in the beers from £3 to £3.50/£4 a can. It … Continue reading Beer Review: Transient – Northern Monk

Beer Review: XPA – Pretty Decent Beer Co.

When I visited Pretty Decent’s tap room the other week I naturally picked up a can of their XPA as I’d absolutely loved it on draft. Can and draft can give you a different experience with a beer so it’s always nice to try both if you can. As mentioned this is their flagship Extra Pale Ale coming in at a very sessionable 3.8% ABV. … Continue reading Beer Review: XPA – Pretty Decent Beer Co.

Beer Review: Storm Shadow – Buxton Brewery

Another beer I’ve had kicking about for a while now from Tesco. This is Buxton Brewery and their Imperial Stout ‘Storm Shadow’. This has been in Tesco stores for a while now at £3.50 a can but with a new batch of craft beer arriving it’s on the way out. Thankfully, if you end up liking the sound of this you can pick it up … Continue reading Beer Review: Storm Shadow – Buxton Brewery
