The moment have finally come. This is the last of the Wylam beers that I own. I’ve saved what Wylam are known best for until last; hoppy IPAs. ‘You Can’t Download The Future’ is a 7.4% ABV IPA featuring Citra Leaf, Strata and Galaxy. I’m going to miss these Geordie brewed beers so I made sure to savour this one till the last drop!
Visually the beer is as hazy as it gets, with a golden sand like colour and a fluffy white head. The nose is a juice bomb of tropical aromas with pineapple, mango and passion fruit aplenty accompanied by touches of orange as well. Big, bold classic hazy IPA flavours. Solid fruity hop throughout with a juicy taste. Drinkable but with hints of the booze making it’s way through. A little sweetness to it as well!
A quick note on the can art: A slightly odd but interesting can design. A sort of dystopian, matrix-esque image of circuit board skyscrapers and silhouetted people. Art as always by Real Eyes.
As to be expected at this point, it’s another great beer from the folks over at Wylam Brewery. The beer has everything you want from a solid and boozy IPA. In your face flavours that are juicy while retaining some of that hop bitterness for the balance. The brew was also seriously soft, texture wise, making for a beer that barely touched the sides in this weather. The next time I have the ability to grab a Wylam beer I’ll do so in a heartbeat. All their beers, across a variety of styles, have impressed me massively!
Score: 8.5/10
