Beer Review: Mango Unchained – ShinDigger Brewing Co.

Taking a quick break from the Tiny Rebel haul to try out another new brewery. Today I’ve got the brilliantly named ‘Mango Unchained’ from Manchester based, ShinDigger Brewing Co. which is a 4.2% ABV session IPA. A quick glance at their website shows they tend to make lower ABV sessionable beer, something I’m a fan of. Mainly because, if it’s a cracking beer you can treat yourself to a few more!

The visual on the beer is a nice golden haze and formed a nice white head. I’ve had a trend, recently, of beers having an amazing and accurate nose to them and this one is absolutely no different. Genuine notes of mango but also an aroma that reminds me of dried pineapple pieces. The beer itself has a really good flavour to it. Lovely hoppiness without an overbearing bitterness on the finish. Even get hints of tropical fruits on the front end. The carbonation of the beer is fantastic as well so the flavour is really pushed around your mouth.

A quick note on the can art: Quite funky art on this one with the fruit. I’d say the can design perfectly describes what the beer smells like!

I’d be lying if I wasn’t sure how this beer would turn out. As much as I loved the name of the beer when I saw it on the shelves I was worried it might be a tad gimmicky. I’m very glad to be proven wrong. It is a fantastically solid IPA with good flavour and an even better nose to it. The ABV for me is ideal and if this was on tap in a pub I would happily sink a few of these. A very happy first foray into ShinDiggger Brewing Co!
